Gerard Ashlin Shay Beckner was born March 5, 1997 in Okeene, Oklahoma to Shella Renea (Beckner) Benham and Michael Scott Steinbach and passed away from his earthly life on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the age of 21.

Gerard attended Fairview Public Schools until the 8th grade while residing in Isabella, OK. He moved to Okeene in 2010 and graduated from Okeene High School in 2015. Gerard attended the Isabella Nazarene Church his entire life and was currently working for United States Gypsum Co. in the packing department.

Gerard was a quiet guy that enjoyed spending time with his close friends and playing online video games. He loved his many nieces and nephews and had a very soft heart for his pets. Gerard was an avid reader, loved watching movies and professional football.

He is survived by:

Half sister……………………Sarah Steinbach of Wright City, OK

Step-sister, Kelbi Benham; step-brother, Kyle Benham; step-brother, Ethan Barnes; step-sister, Allison Purnell; step-sister, Davin Devilbliss; and half brother, Michael Lucas.

Grandparents, Fenton Jr. and Barbara Beckner of Ringwood, OK; Mark Benham of Okeene, Nancy Benham of Yukon, OK; and Jacque Steinbach of Longdale, OK.

Great grandmother, Florence Parker of Fairview, OK; and step great grandmother, Alpha Mae Smith of Okeene, OK; step great grandfather, Weldon Benham of Vinita, OK; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Gerard will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Isabella Nazarene Church in Isabella, OK. Burial will follow in the Parvin Cemetery east of Okeene, OK. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary of Okeene.

Gerard was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 12 and battled it the remainder of his life. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the J.D.R.F. (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) at 907 S. Detroit Ave., Suite 1006, Tulsa, OK 74120.
