Opal Wilhite Rumsey

Opal Lucille Wilhite Calton Rumsey was born October 5, 1926 to Warren and Rosie (Hoskins) Wilhite and passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the age of 91.

She was a resident of Sienna Extended Care and Rehab in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Opal was raised near Watonga in Blaine County, Oklahoma. She married Thomas Edward Calton on May 22, 1945 in Stratford, Oklahoma and together they had three children.

She married Carl Rumsey on May 4, 2004 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.

She was employed by TG&Y for over 35 years and was a member of the Wilmont Place Baptist Church for 53 years. Opal was full of life and laughter, rarely seen without a radiant smile on her face. Always the jokester and often seen in costume or a variety of different hats. She was the most good-natured person you would ever know, genuinely loving and accepting of everyone she met, and she was loved dearly in return by all who knew her and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, a brother Leslie, sister Ellen, and two children; Patricia Ann “Patsy” Dromgoole and Jerry Edward Calton.

Survivors include her husband Carl of the home, her daughter Diane and husband Wayne Palyola, son-in-law Willie Dromgoole, one granddaughter Sheila Dromgoole, four grandsons; Eric Dromgoole (Bridget), Stephen Potts (Dawn), David Potts (K.K.), Mike Potts (Candi), 16 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Opal Rumsey will be held Saturday, August 22, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Christian Church (400 N. Noble, Watonga, OK) in Watonga with Rev. Danny Frazee officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
