In Memory of Maydie Owens


Maydie Owens was born February 13, 1932 at Greenfield, Oklahoma to John and Pearl (Juttner) Crawford and passed away Sunday June 7, 2020 at the age of 88.

Maydie was a resident of Woodward, Oklahoma for several years before she moved back to Watonga in 1973. She attended Greenfield schools and graduated there in 1950. Maydie was a nurse’s assistant at Watonga Municipal Hospital for nearly 30 years and was a member of the Watonga Hospital Auxiliary for many years. While her kids were growing up, she spent time as a Boy and Girl Scout leader. She was married to Orville Owens at Watonga at the Lutheran Church on March 23, 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl Crawford; her husband, Orville Owens. One brother, John Michael Crawford; One sister Patsy Ann Lawhon, and one nephew, Michael Crawford.

She is survived by:

One son…………………………….. Kelly Owens and wife, Lisa of Watonga, Oklahoma.

Two daughters………………….. Brenda Burnett of Bethany, Oklahoma and Terri Crawford and husband Stan of Watonga, Oklahoma.

One sister…………………………. Billie Ruth Fearing and husband Solon of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Five grandchildren……………. Jennifer Surratt, Candace Lamont, Lauren Coleman, Allen Owens, Alexa Lee.

Nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Maydie Owens will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Wilkinson Mortuary of Watonga in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Watonga Hospital Auxiliary.
