Margaret Virginia Kennedy

Margaret “Virginia” Kennedy was born on February 15, 1932 in Watonga, OK to Albert Bingley and Mary Lona (Dollar) Golden. Virginia passed peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 87. She was a resident of the Corn Heritage Village community in Corn, OK for over 14 years.

She was married to Thomas G Kennedy in Parsons Kansas on November 13, 1952 until his passing in April of 1995. Virginia was known for her deep faith and her devotion to family. She was a master seamstress and not only made the majority of her daughter, Debbie’s, clothes and many shirts for her son, Arlon, but also Debbie’s dolls had a full wardrobe of intricate, handmade items. She was a doting grandmother and treasured every second spent with her four grandkids, Paul, Skyler, Heath, and Ethan and was always prepared with great food and fun activities. She had a heart for restoration. In her eyes no old piece of furniture was beyond repair and she breathed new life into several chairs and tables. Virginia also sought restoration for people around her. Her greatest joy was caring for children, whether while their parents were at work or they were without a safe place to go, she opened her home and heart to hundreds of kids over the course of her time in Watonga. She was a loving mother, cherished wife, and adored grandmother and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her son, Arlon Kennedy, and his wife, Debra “Debi” Kennedy of Watonga, her daughter, Deborah D “Debbie,” and her husband Frank Selby of Gage, and her sister, Mary Phillips of Durant. Also, sisters-in-law, Leora Harrison of Richardson, TX, Maxine Peters of Watonga, Naomi “Tootsie” Kennedy of Mustang, Beth Golden of Oklahoma City, and brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Kennedy of Weatherford. Her four grand children, Paul Selby of Shattuck, Skyler (Selby) and husband Chris Robinson of Fort Worth, TX, Heath and Chelsea Kennedy of Watonga, Ethan and Emily Kennedy of Alva and eight great grandchildren: Caleb, Elizabeth “Lizzie Rae”, Ashton Robinson of Fort Worth, Trace, Hayden, baby girl Kennedy of Watonga, Tommy, and baby boy Kennedy of Alva

as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas G Kennedy Jr, great grandson, Noah Blake Kennedy, brothers William Joseph Golden, Dub Golden, Junior Golden, sisters Elizabeth Lierlie, Dorothy Burnett, Lucille Posey, Eula Shankles, and Flora May Posey. Also, three brothers-in-law: Jesse Glen Kennedy, Ivan Peters, Bob Harrison her parents, Albert Bingley and Mary Lona (Dollar) Golden, and her mother and father-in-law, Thomas G and Georgia Kennedy.

Funeral services for Margaret “Virginia” Kennedy will be held, Saturday, March 2, at 2:00pm at the Nazarene Church in Watonga, Ok with Kason Oaks officiating. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Watonga with Wilkinson Mortuary in overseeing arrangements.
