In Memory of Idalue Ivins

Idalue Ivins was born August 29, 1937 at Greenfield, Oklahoma to W.E. O’Neal and Birdie Mae Mitchel O’Neal and passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 after a recent illness. Idalue was at home with family when she passed and was at peace.

Idalue grew up in Watonga, OK and there met the love of her life- Billy Lee Ivins, who was from Greenfield. He and Idalue were married on August 20, 1955. After marriage, Idalue worked at McBee Steakhouse for R.B. Ray. She and Bill bought Ivins Oil Company- Texaco, which they ran and owned for over 30 years. There, Idalue not only helped the customers, but also hauled fuel to many farmers.

She worked for many years in the cafeteria at the Watonga Schools. She worked with one of her good friends Flora Jean Flynn and had many stories of the two of them while they were working in the cafeteria. Idalue also worked at Roman Nose Lodge for some time.

After retirement from the school around 2007, she and Bill spent their time doing a lot of things together. They enjoyed spending time together like going to garage sales on Saturdays or riding around and checking things out. Occasionally, Idalue would go golfing with Bill- just to ride in the golf cart.

To Bill and Idalue’s marriage were born two sons, Billy Dean and Brian Ted.

She is survived by her two sons, Billy Dean Ivins and Brian and wife, Pam Ivins, all of Watonga, OK. Her sister, Nevada Block, of Georgia. One granddaughter, Danielle Ivins; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Hailey Snow, and Brittany and Mackenzie Dennis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, W.E. & Birdie O’Neal. One sister, Joan Hurst; also, the love of her life- her “honey”- Bill Ivins, on January 22, 2016 after a short bout with cancer.

Funeral services for Idalue Ivins will be held Wednesday July 22, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Watonga Christian Church with Pastor Adam Lovitt officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Watonga Senior Citizen Center or the Watonga Christian Church.
