Donald “Red” James Krause was born on August 24, 1940, at home, at Homestead, to Murrel L. and Cecilia Mary Krause and passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 85.
He was a lifelong resident of the Okeene/Homestead community, where he worked as a Tax Practitioner and farmer. He attended and graduated from Okeene High School and was a member of the Okeene Methodist Church, Okeene Quarterback Club, Okeene Hospital Board, and the Okeene City Council. He was married to Hazel (Peggy) Ruth Myers at Wellington, Kansas, on August 15, 1958.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one uncle, Pete, and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Krause, of the home in Okeene.

Two sisters……………………………..…….. Vivian and husband Jerry Schnell of Okeene and Merlene Lamle of Okeene.
Six grandchildren……………………..…... Devon and Lauren Krause of Enid; Sandi Chodrick of Norman; Daylon and Paige Krause of Okeene, Cory Wiggs and Melissa Franklin of Norman; Dane and Kelsi Krause of Okeene; Drew and Veronica Krause of Okeene.
Fifteen great-grandchildren……………. Brianna Schroeder, Greyson Chodrick, Hayden Wiggs, Ben Wiggs, Tucker Franklin, Audrey and Halle Krause, Finley and Suttyn Krause, Ensley and Emery Krause, Fletcher, Aria, Landon, and Truett Krause.
Visitation for Donald “Red” Krause will be on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Mortuary in Okeene.
Funeral services for Donald “Red” Krause will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Okeene Methodist Church with Pastor George Rowe officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, with Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Okeene Hospital Foundation and the Okeene School Foundation with Wilkinson Mortuary as custodians. PO Box 501, Okeene OK 73763

As good a person as I’ve known. He was honest as the day is long & very dependable. A true legend in the Okeene community. He will be missed but his contributions will continue to be felt!
