Earl Devon Boyd Sr.

EARL DEVON BOYD SR.


Earl D. Boyd Sr. was born May 29, 1937, at Fay, Oklahoma to Eldon and Genevieve Boyd and passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the age of 84.


He was a resident of the Watonga community for 60 years. He attended Fay Schools and Earl served in the United States Air Force for four years. He worked in the oil field and worked on appliance in the Watonga area, later attending Canadian Valley Vocational School. Earl was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Watonga.


Earl volunteered his time mowing the cemetery, drove a school bus for Watonga, helped his in laws with their laundry business and worked for 25 years in the oil field from rough neck to tool pusher. Earl trained several young men to work on rigs including his son, Earl Boyd, Jr., later working on A/C and heating units and various appliances for many people in the Watonga area. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.


Earl married Evelyn Huffman at Watonga, Oklahoma on January 13, 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn, one daughter; Debra Kay Boyd in 1966 and two brothers; LeRoy Boyd and Billy Boyd.

One daughter……………..Dora Kaye Boyd of Oklahoma City, OK


Two grandchildren………Sean King and Debra Michelle Franks and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Earl will be held by his family on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Watonga. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church or the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga.
