Mary Martha DeMoss was born October 31, 1949, to Ted and Marcelious Redding Schultz and passed away on Monday, February 09, 2026, at the age of 76. Mary grew up on a small farm south of Okeene, OK with three sisters and two brothers. She was the fourth sibling of the six. She attended Okeene schools graduating in 1967 and attended one year at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.
She met the love of her life, Doyle DeMoss in 1965 while he was pharmacy interning at the Okeene Drug Store. They married in July 1968 and moved to Denton, TX where they set up home and had two children, Robert Doyle DeMoss and Lori Renee DeMoss. In her earlier years she poured out her energy loving and raising her children. As they grew she ventured into jobs outside of the home holding an Avon route and working a stint at S&H Stamp store. Later she put her organizational skills into working as a secretary. She worked as the secretary to the principal at Strickland Jr High School, administration secretary at North Texas State University and retired in (2002) from Texas Women’s University where she worked as secretary in the Bill Blackwood Dept for Law Enforcement Management.
Mary had many past time hobbies that included needlepoint, quilting, baking, and painting. Many of those items became cherished gifts to family. She enjoyed holding gatherings with close friends and baking her mother’s recipe for bierock, homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. She lived to spend time with her grandkids and talked about them often. She and Doyle spent part of retirement traveling the United States in their RV. One of her favorites was the many trips back to the home farm where she could spend time with siblings and other family living in the Okeene area.
She leaves behind her memories with husband Doyle of the home, son Robert and Valerie DeMoss of Ozark, MO, and daughter Lori DeMoss of San Antonio, TX, her grandsons Matthew DeMoss and wife Kaitlyn of St. Johns, FL and Mason DeMoss and fiancée Saylor of Springfield, MO, sister-in-law Jana Shultz of Okeene, OK, brother-in-law Dean DeMoss and wife Marilyn of Aledo, TX and many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces, and numerous friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents Ted and Marcelious, sister Juanita Goforth and husband Gene, sister Barbara Bedwell and husband Bill, sister Debra Galusha and husband Gary, brother Charles Schultz, brother Ted Schultz, niece Diane Camden, niece Michele Dunham, sister-in-law Marilyn Camden, and father-in-law Arthur Monroe DeMoss and Mother-in-law Ida DeMoss
The family would like to extend our greatest gratitude to the many caretakers of Home Instead, Dr. Scott Simms, and other support staff that have been a part of her care over the last couple of years.
Funeral services for Mary will be held Monday, February 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Okeene, Oklahoma, with Pastor Gaylon Cox officiating. The burial will follow at Canton Cemetery, in Canton, Oklahoma, with Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
