Weldon William Geis was born on August 7th, 1925, to William and Hannah Geis in Okeene, Oklahoma. He grew up just outside of Okeene, where he helped his father upkeep their farm, while also attending Okeene Public Schools.

At the age of 18, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he was drafted and soon became a Tech Sergeant in the Army, where he assisted doctors and helped work on military tanks.

After the army, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jane Bierig, on February 23rd, 1947. They went on to start a family, and Weldon became a proud father to his beloved son, Kennan Geis.

Weldon and Jane were married for 53 years, until Jane’s passing in 2000.

On April 19th, 2003, Weldon married Barbara Baker, and they enjoyed 11 years together before Barbara’s passing in 2014.

Weldon was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. He attended Zion Baptist Church and served his community wherever he could. Serving on the Okeene Hospital board, Ames Coop Board, as well as the Okeene Library board, were just three important ways Weldon served his community.

From the late 50’s to early 70’s, Weldon ran his own grocery store called “Red Bud Grocery”, where he enjoyed the responsibility and service he gave to his community. After selling his grocery store, he fell in love with farming, which he continued until he was 98. “I think I’m going to retire soon...” were his famous words.

Weldon passed away peacefully in his home on February 23rd, 2026, at the age of 100. He is preceded in death by his father, William Geis; his mother, Hannah Geis; his sisters, Maxine Fielder-Davis and Katherine Geis; his brother, Willis Geis; his first wife, Jane Geis; and his second wife, Barbara Geis.

He is survived by his son, Kennan Geis; his granddaughters, Crystal, Carrie, Charity, and Chloe; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alice, James, and Amelia.

Viewing will be held on Friday, February 27th, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Mortuary in Okeene.

Funeral services for Weldon will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church in Okeene, with Pastor Tim Koehn officiating. The burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene with Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements.
