Doris Kay Cupp

March 18, 1946 – December 25, 2019

Doris Kay Lewis Cupp passed away on Christmas night surrounded by her children.  She was born on March 18, 1946, in Watonga, Oklahoma.  She grew up on the family farm in Eastern Blaine County that was homesteaded in the Land Run.  Her parents were Bernice and Malcolm Lewis.  Doris attended school in Omega, Oklahoma where she was the basketball queen.  She graduated from high school in 1963 and went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she earned BS and Masters degrees in teaching and guidance and counseling.  Like her mother, Doris had a long and rewarding career in education.  She worked for several years at Watonga High School where she taught business classes, sponsored FBLA, and served as yearbook advisor for several award winning yearbook designs.  Later, she taught at Millwood High School and served as counselor at Carl Albert.  She retired in Oklahoma City and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.  She was an avid OU football fan and rarely missed a game. Doris’ greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her brother Don L. Lewis of Thomas, Oklahoma, and six children including Carri Polizzotti of San Rafael, California, Dondi Cupp of Portland, Oregon, Kimbri High of Watonga, Oklahoma, Terry Cupp of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sean Cupp of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kelli Cupp of Aspen, Colorado.  Her grandchildren include Scout, Tess, and Gaetano Polizzotti; Anthony Roberts-Cupp; Madelyn, Katherine, and Samuel Cupp; Cooper and Maggie High; Charlotte, Christian, and Caleb Cupp; and Malcom, Augusta, and Atticus Berg.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30, at IOOF Cemetery in Watonga.  Following the service, the family will host a celebration of life for Doris at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 30, at the Northwest Event Center located at 6009 NW Expressway in Oklahoma City.  For additional information, please contact Wilkinson Mortuary.
