In memory of Francis Wayne Hurst


F.W. Hurst, lovingly known as Wayne, Sonny or Pops, was born October 6th 1941

at Woodward, Oklahoma to Lewis and Marie Hurst and passed away January 21st

2020 at the age of 78 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Pops enlisted in the Marine Corp out

of high school where he became an MP and afterward made his way to South

Louisiana where he worked in the oilfield, drilling offshore. He was transferred to

Watonga, Oklahoma in the early 80’s eventually retiring and moving to Tonkawa,

Oklahoma around 2000. Pops enjoyed restoring old cars and guns, riding

motorcycles and spending time with his family, he was also a lifetime member of

the Masonic Lodge. Pops was married to Karen (Cantwell) Hurst at Weatherford,

Oklahoma on March 30th, 1982. He was preceded in death by his mother Marie

Hurst, his daughter Cydne Hurst and one Granddaughter Tawsha Hurst. He is

survived by his wife Karen Hurst of the home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Sons; Drew

and wife Robin Hurst of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Derek and wife Christy Hurst of

Checotah, Oklahoma. Sisters; Sue Webb of Corpus Christi, Texas, Connie and

husband Ted Neergaard of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. His father, Lewis Hurst of

Cortez, Colorado. Grandchildren; Drew W. Hurst of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Katie

and husband Zach Denwalt of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Cody Rogers of Hays,

Texas, Amber Hurst of Roswell, New Mexico, Alexis and Kyle Rogers of Roswell,

New Mexico. Great grandchildren: Harper Hurst, Rylee Hurst and Damon Hurst all

of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Wayne Hurst will be held, Monday the 27th day of

January, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the IOOF Cemetery in Watonga, Oklahoma with

Pastor Adam Lovitt officiating with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of

arrangements.
