S. David Hopper

In Memory

S. DAVID HOPPER

S. David Hopper, 82, formerly of Kingfisher, OK, entered his eternal rest on August 20, 2024, in

Pittsburgh, PA.

David was born in Enid, OK on March 20, 1942. He grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid

High School in 1961. After high school, David attended Phillips University until his education

was interrupted when the U.S. Army called him to serve during the Vietnam War. Upon his

discharge from the Army, David went to work for the Rock Island Railroad. While working full

time for the railroad, David simultaneously pursued a law degree at Oklahoma City University,

earning his juris doctor in 1973.

Upon receiving his law degree, David began practicing law in Watonga, OK. He first served as

an assistant district attorney in Blaine County prior to establishing a private legal practice which he continued for fifty years.

David lived a life of dedication and service to others, exemplifying the rank he earned of Eagle

Scout. Even while practicing law, he many times received nothing more in return for his services

than the gratitude of those he served.

David was a quiet, thoughtful man. He found peace and happiness with the simple pleasures in

life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He was known to bring wild game he

harvested to Thanksgiving. David was also an avid OSU fan.

David was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a sister. He is survived by

daughters Andrea (Jeremy) Bowers, Anita Hopper, and son David (Laura) Hopper; sisters Joy

(John) Blakley, Mary Beth (Bert) Hinderliter, and brother Terry (Judy) Hopper; eight

grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, to honor David’s legacy, will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Kingfisher with Pastor Gene Massey officiating and Wilkinson Mortuary handling the arrangements. The burial will follow, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid.

In lieu of flowers,  the family requests that all memorials be donated to Toys for Tots.
