Theodore “Teddy” William Schultz was born January 20, 1948, to Ted and Marcelious Redding Schultz.  Teddy attended Okeene Public Schools graduating in 1967. He then went to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed driving five other classmates to school at his time in Alva. As time passed the riders dropped out of the carpool, but one girl continued to ride with him, Jana Patzkowsky. They married July 31, 1970, and were married for 54 years.

After they wed and completed three years at NWOSU, he joined the Army National Guard and served for six years.

Together in their union they had two sons and one daughter, Bruce Wayne, Brandon Layne, and Brada Reneé. Teddy enjoyed showing chickens with the boys and Brada helped wash, blow dry, and warm them. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved farming and all his chickens, sheep, goats, and cattle. In his younger years he did carpenter work and made woodworking items with Mike Haffey. Every October he looked forward to going to the Johnny Popper Swap meet in Wichita, KS. His favorite part of the show was to place a winning bid on the featured Toy Tractor with money going to St. Jude’s Cancer Research Children’s Hospital. He loved collecting Toy Tractors and attending several shows. Teddy could always be found at any local farm equipment auction.

Besides farming he drove a school bus for 34 years having the record of the longest time of driving a school bus for Okeene Public Schools. Every year at Christmas he gave his bus riders a sack of fruit and candy and in later years a pop and snickers candy bar.

Teddy had a Rawleigh Route, he loved to visit with his customers. He made so many new friends selling the products. He also enjoyed collecting and attending 101 Ranch events. His favorite attire was his Key Overalls. If he saw someone else wearing them, he would give them a dollar and say, “pass it on”.

Teddy was saved and baptized as a teenager in the Okeene Church of God. He was a member of the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church where he served as a Trustee. Teddy also served on the Blaine County Fair, and Soil Conservation Boards. He received the Farm Family of the year in 1996. In 2011 he received the Blaine County Hall of Fame award.
